Restaurants Against Cancer Beats the Heat in Second Year

As another summer closes in Arizona one highlight for area restaurants was the success of Restaurants Against Cancer. In it’s second year as an organized effort, the work produced over $22,000 for The American Cancer Society’s “Camp Sunrise.” The camp is a year round effort helping children and siblings of children with cancer. The funds raised by area restaurants were used to buy the food and supplies needed to host hundred of camping kids. Everything from bathroom tissue and hand soap, to milk, hot dogs and coffee for the counselors was paid for and delivered by the Arizona restaurant community. Suppliers like Accurate Chemical and Shamrock Foods did some heavy lifting and organizing by bringing restaurants into the effort and getting the supplies needed organized and delivered. Restaurants like Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Burger King, Old Town Tortilla Factory in Scottsdale and Rosie McCaffery’s Irish Pub and The Parlor in Phoenix. “The effort was a great success and once again shows how one of the most competive industries there is can come together for a great cause.” said Monica Kopp from Shamrock Foods.
